Box Break: 2018 Elite Extra Edition - The Parallels

A couple of months ago, I bought a couple boxes of 2018 Elite Extra Edition. I was (and still am) on the hunt for a specific player that was featured in the product, but more on that later.

When I got back into collecting, I stayed pretty far away from Panini. I'm not a fan of the logoless cards. However, some products feature players in either their college threads or Team USA uniforms. I can get down with that. I opened a box of 2016 Elite Extra Edition a couple years ago and enjoyed it. Let's see if this year is similar.

PS - There are a ton of parallels, so I'm not necessarily going to have commentary on all (or any) cards.

Greyson Jenista, Tie Dye Die-Cut #'d 8/10
Luis Encarnacion, Blue Aspirations #'d /99
Diego Cartaya, Blue Aspirations #'d /99
Jose Cosma, Red Status Die-Cut #'d /99
Cal Raleigh, Red Status Die-Cut #'d /99
Keiderson Pavon, Orange Aspirations #'d/100
Tristian Pompey, Orange Aspirations #'d/100
Carlos Cortes, Red Aspirations #'d/150
Keibert Ruiz, Red Aspirations #'d/150
Brewer Hicklen, Red Aspirations #'d/150
Not too shabby. Lot's of color. I'm a big fan of the sparkly die-cut cards. Also, a couple of the kids featured on the international block look like they can't be more than 12 or 13 years old.

I'll be back early next week with the hits portion of the break.

How do you feel about EEE?

2017 Elite Extra Edition

My LCS had box of 2017 Elite Extra Edition for sale for a really good price. Though I'm not normally a Panini guy, I decided to give it a try. The box came with eight guaranteed hits, at least six of which were autos.

This is a base auto from the set. It's an on-card auto. Most of the autos in the set are on-card, though there are still a number of sticker autos.

There are also auto parallels. This is a diecut "Status" parallel featuring Detroit's Alex Faedo, numbered to 75.

The box contained a number of parallels, also. Unlike Topps, these parallels really pop.

Some parallels are diecut, like this one.

My box had two relics. The first was this one:

This jumbo Future Threads relic features a jersey swatch from Rhys Hoskins, numbered to 99.

My last relic was this:

A jumbo patch auto of Ynmanol Marinez, now a member of the Miami Marlins organization. It's a nice patch and a low number. The only problem I have is the sticker auto. But hey, it does no good to complain now.

I enjoyed this break. Having seven autos in my box (though not all are shown here) was pretty awesome. I also really enjoy the parallels. As I mentioned above, they really pop and stand out from what Topps would consider a parallel.

The Daily List - November 26, 2013

So, I'm trying to think of new features for the blog. A lot of people do a random card of the day, random set, etc. etc., so I thought I would join in on the fun. I am going to attempt to have a daily list. This list can be about anything related to baseball, baseball cards or blogging so get ready.

So, without further ado, here is my first Daily List.

  1. We've all heard about the old man that has a crazy card or memorbilia collection, but what about a relatively young older woman with a museum-worthy collection? Check out this story about Susan Plymel and her insane collection that once included a verified Babe Ruth autographed ball (it was stolen from her!)
  2. Don't think there are enough blogs about the Dodgers? Here's one you need to check out - Chavez Ravining. A great read about cards related to the Dodgers, a.k.a. the "West Coast Yankees." (Sorry Alex, I couldn't resist!) Give it a look and subscribe to his site!
  3. Speaking of blogs, mine has grown visually boring to me. Leave me a comment of what you would like to see changed, and design ideas you might have, or, if you are into graphic design, design my site for me!
  4. I still have a few things up for sale via eBay for my Wounded Warriors project fundraiser. Go check it out and buy somehting. Reader Defgav has helped out - now it's your turn!
  5. Lastly, on a related note, there are still plenty of teams available for my 2013 Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects two-box break to raise money for the WWP. Go here to sign up!

Well, there it is. Here's a thank you for reading through!
