A Green Harry And An Idea

First, I received another piece to the Matt Harrison PC over the weekend:

This is the retail green parallel. I don't know what it is, but I really dig these retail parallels this year. I really wish that Series 2 would have had the yellow parallels, too (I need consistency across the board, people!), but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

On to my idea. I don't know about you, but I like Beckett Magazine. Not because of the price guide - Heaven knows that I think their prices are highly, highly inflated - but for the articles in the front (I feel like I've made this argument before...wait, I was talking about Playboy then).

Chris Olds does most of the work on these articles, but there are a few other writers who appear in the magazine. Sadly, there are only a small handful of articles in each month's magazine.

Here's where my idea comes in. I would like to create a **free** monthly online newsletter talking about nothing but cardboard. The newsletter would have pieces on best pulls of the month, dime box steals, new product reviews, TTM successes of the month, spotlights on super collectors, spotlights on blogs and writers, a best of twitter spot, an LCS spotlight, a card show listing, a cardboard "classifieds" for people to list cards they are searching for or trading and a blog roll.

How is this any different from our blogs, you ask? Well, the simple answer is that the articles will be more in-depth that typical blog posts. If you're anything like me, you post quickly because you have five thousand other things on your plate. This will allow for a single article to be composed over an entire month, so it should be very well written and researched, and offer insight that a normal post just doesn't have.

Furthermore, it allows for people whose blog specializes in something to be showcased. For instance, Nick over at Dime Boxes could write about dime box steals if he wanted to. Laurie V could share her TTM successes and offer tips to readers on the TTM process. You get my drift.

How is this different than Sports Collector Daily, you ask? Well, it's cardboard-centric. SCD is awesome - but it deals with the entire world of sports memorabilia. While my vision definitely has a place for memorabilia, it is more focused on the card aspect of the hobby.

I want it to relate to all sports cards. I want it to have more than I just mentioned. Which is why I am posting here today. I can't do all of this myself, I need help. Serious help. Would any of you be interested in writing for this newsletter? You are some of the best writers I read, and I would be honored if some of you would join me on this venture. If you would be interested, or if you have any questions/comments, let me know below!
