The Greer PC Gets A Boost From...An Angels Fan?!?!

There are a lot of things that bother me in the world today. I unfortunately came across this article a few days ago, and it remind me how much I dislike Angels fans.

All of them except Tom, that is.

Tom, the great mind The Angels, In Order lives in God's chosen land (Texas) and just happens to be an Angels fan. He's probably the nicest of the bunch, as he has sent me a few awesome PWE's now, and they always have some killer cards in them.

I received an envelope from Tom a few weeks ago (sorry that I am just getting to posting this!) that had quite a few awesome Rusty Greer cards for my PC. Let's take a look at a few:

I've had my eye on this State Representatives insert from 1998 Leaf for some time. I just could never pull the trigger. Thankfully, I didn't!

I also love the double photo on this guy from '97 Pinnacle Express.

Is there anyone who didn't love the Pacific cards? I did.

And here are a few more that he sent, presented without my annoying commentary:

Tom, I can't thank you enough! I'm still putting together a package to send back your way!!!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Another Top 5 Bites The Dust! (Plus An Extra Card)

I've wanted this card since I first saw it. I think it's beautiful...but it initially cost more than $30. I just can't do that for one card anymore. So I waited...and waited...and waited...and finally, I was able to grab a copy for less than the price of a blaster.

Behold:

2015 Topps Strata Shadowbox Auto of Joey Gallo!

The scan really doesn't the the card justice. I was surprised to see that the card is almost half an inch thick! I don't have any top loaders that thick, but I'm hoping to pick a few up at my LCS soon.

This isn't the only Gallo that I have picked up lately. With the release of 2016 Heritage, I knew I had to grab one of these, too:

Chrome Black Refractor. Again, my scanner sucks. You just have to trust me that the card is more beautiful in person!

I'm BACK!! (And My Best TTM So Far!)

I've been gone for a little while. Two weeks ago, I was blessed to have strep throat AND the flu at the same time. Did I say blessed? I meant cursed. I was fortunate enough to get over that in time for spring break, which allowed me to have a pretty incredible road trip across the great state of Texas.

When I returned, I had one TTM in my mailbox, and it's one that I have been after for a while. As a matter of fact, the fifth post on this blog was devoted to my failed attempt to get one Mr. Adrian Beltre's auto. Sadly, I received the "I love my fans, but I'm too busy playing to sign" note.

However, a week ago, I saw on Twitter that Brian of Play at the Plate fame had a successful TTM from Beltre:

So it seems that Beltre will sign in Spring Training, but is all business during the season. I can respect that.

With that in mind, I dug out my favorite Beltre card and dropped it in the mail. When I returned, this was in my mailbox:

I love the Throwback insert set from last year's Gypsy Queen. Add in the sweet signature, and this is just an awesome TTM.

So there it is, the story of my (new) favorite TTM! I have plenty more posts coming, so stay tuned!

HELP! A Plea For COMC Knowledge

So, I've been slowly trying to figure my collection out over the last three months. For the last three months, I have been going through my collection card-by-card to figure out what cards I want and what cards I can do away with. If you haven't looked lately, my trade bait has grown exponentially. (Side note - if you are now browsing through my trade bait, beware: I still need to verify that all the cards listed are present in my trade box!)

That being said, I have a few cards I would like to sell. While I normally through these cards on eBay, I think I want to do something different. eBay requires that I invest time in listing, packing and shipping. I don't really want to deal with that. I would rather send the cards off to someone that will do all of that for me.

So I thought I would send my cards to COMC. However, they aren't entirely clear on how the process works. Here's how I understand it:

I send COMC the cards I want to sell. Depending on how quickly I want them listed on the website, I pay the company a fee (per card) up front. Once the fee is paid, COMC will scan and list the cards on their website until they sell. When the cards does sell, COMC takes a percentage of the sale amount and the rest goes into my store credit. If I want to withdraw that money, I am subject to a fee, both from COMC and PayPal.

Is that correct?

Do any of you use COMC? If so, what are your comments/thoughts about it?

I appreciate any help!

So, Gavin Is Pretty Awesome, Right? (An Unintentionally Late Post)

While my dad was in the hospital a few weeks ago, I wrote this post and thought I posted it. I just noticed that I hadn't. Gavin, please forgive me, my friend!
-------------

Gavin, the mad scientist behind Baseball Card Breakdown, recently contacted me about the Giancarlo Stanton medallion I pulled from my jumbo box of 2016 Topps Series 1. Naturally, I was happy to move it since I don't collect him.

In return, Gavin sent me quite a few cards for my 1969 set. As a matter of fact, these are my first additions to the set build outside of the cards in my original purchase.

Every time I See these cards, I fall more and more in love with the set. I just love the simplicity! The Morgan and Killebrew are great, too!

But those weren't the only cards in the package - I also got a sweet BCB custom!!!

Ted Williams! Awesome! But what makes it even better? Ted Williams rocking the Navy baseball uni! He sported this after being drafted into the Navy while at Chapel Hill and again while at Pearl Harbor while playing in the Army league. This card is awesome!

Thanks again, Gavin!
