So, 2018 Topps Heritage Is Here

I am going to break chronological order and talk about Heritage before I talk about my foray into '18 Topps Series 1. Heritage is my favorite release every year, so I want to go ahead and talk about it while it's fresh.
Last year, Heritage was really kind to me. In short, this year was not so kind.

I purchased two hobby boxes the day Heritage released. Here are the cards of interest:

The biggest pull of two boxes had to be this nickname variation of Francisco Lindor. The fact that this was the biggest pull should tell you something.

Both boxes contained a base relic as the "hit."

And that's the extent of my '18 Heritage adventure. No other variations, no parallels, nothing. In short, it may be the single most disappointing break that I have had lately.

To make things worse, the second box I opened essentially had the same cards in it. In fact, outside of the short prints, there were only 12 unique cards in the second box that I didn't pull in the first. It was absolutely awful.

I'm working on getting my needs list posted on The Trading Card Database. Hopefully, it will be accomplished by the end of the weekend. I'll also post the cards I have available for trade. I'm going to be transitioning all of my tradebait and wantlists to that site to keep everything organized.

I hope everyone is well!

  1. Bummer the break was a letdown. Nice Lindor, though!

  2. I opened a little bit of this. I sent you a message on TCDB a few minutes ago. LMK once you have everything in there and let's see if we can work out a trade to get you further along. I also have a couple Heritage from LY that are on your want list, along with some Dr. Pepper Rangers cards.

    1. I should have everything on TCDB tonight. I passed out pretty early last night and didn't get my Heritage dupes listed.

  3. As an Indians fan and collector, I would be pumped to get that Lindor card out of a pack. Sorry that you did not have much luck with the two boxes of cards. Are you trading any of the Heritage including possibly the aforementioned Lindor card?

    1. I definitely have some Heritage I can trade. The Lindor, unfortunately, is not available. I flipped it to help pay for ox #2. Sorry!

    2. Can you email me and we can talk a trade? My email is: tim(underscore)gretchen(underscore)marriage AT yahoo.com

      Thanks, Tim

  4. I can help with your base set. Mr. Smile is a nice short print. You could probably get a few dollars for it. For the price point, Heritage needs a better "hit." $5 relics are an insult.

    1. I agree on the "hit." I will give Topps credit, though - it seems that they went out of their way to make sure that "gold" relics (#'d 99) have a patch in them rather than being a plain swatch like years past. Still, kinda crappy when you have to spend $120 a box and that's the hit.

  5. Sad to say... but every Heritage box from here on out will be compared to the 2017 box with that Trout. Unless... you pull a Trout 1 of 1 autograph next year.

  6. His nickname is Mr. Smile and Topps can't use a picture of him and his smile? Argh.
Sounds like a couple of rough boxes.

  7. What a coincidence. I also bought two hobby boxes the day Heritage was released. I also got the Polanco GU but the other relic was an Altuve GU. Along with a couple of action variations, I feel pretty good about the boxes I got. Sorry you got so many dupes but that is a pretty cool Lindor card.
